Donkey’s Years
2006, 4 mins, Video.
This film explores the quintessentially traditional British seaside attraction of donkey rides.
The visual style is a mix of super 8 film, video, still images (slides/polaroid’s) and digital formats (phones/ video cameras) to construct an archeological memory of donkey rides at British seaside resorts. In this film I wanted to explore how, through domestic media platforms, the past and the present can be combined to evoke the common cultural memory of childhood seaside experiences.
